Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa), a subsidiary of the Russian pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK), has announced the commissioning of the production and deliveries of large diameter pipes for the Central Asia-China gas pipeline project, which is to transport natural gas to China from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
Accordingly, up to the end of March 2009, Vyksa is to manufacture and deliver for the Kazakhstan part of the pipeline about 194,500 mt of API5L-X 70 PSL 2 steel pipes of 1,067 mm in diameter with wall thickness of 15.9 mm, and with internal and external anticorrosive coating.
During 2008-2009, OMK is to deliver to the Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan sections of the gas pipeline about 335,000 of pipes of 1,067 mm in diameter with wall thicknesses of 15.9 mm and 19.1 mm. The overall pipe quantity required for the construction of the Central Asia-China gas pipeline project amounts to 1.52 million mt.
