Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa), a subsidiary of the Russian pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK), has announced the commissioning of the production of large diameter (LD) pipes for the biggest Russian natural gas producer Gazprom.

Vyksa's pipes are to be used by Gazprom for the construction of the Dzhubga-Lazarevskoye-Sochi gas pipeline, the biggest part of which will run under the Black Sea.

Accordingly, until the end of the first quarter of 2009, Vyksa plans to produce more than 30,000 mt of X60 pipes of 530 mm in diameter, with wall thickness of 15 mm for the underwater part of the pipeline and wall thickness of 11.3 mm for the overland part. Pipe length is in the range of 11.9-12.5 mm.
