Voestalpine Stahl Donawitz to replace BF No. 4 with new Danieli digimelters

Italian plantmaker Danieli has announced that it will supply two new digimelters to Voestalpine Stahl Donawitz, a subsidiary of Austrian steelmaker Voestalpine AG, for its special steel production facility in Leoben, Austria.

The new digimelters will replace the blast furnace No. 4 and will have an initial annual production capacity of up to one million mt of ultra-high quality green steel. The capacity is planned to further increase to an annual 1.7 million mt.

The units are designed for the direct use of renewable energy sources.
