According to a recent press release, Voestalpine has opened two factories in Mexico, one in Aguascalientes and one in Zacatecas. The factories specialize in automotive components. The release noted that the start of the Aguascalientes site was an order received of over US$600 million in 2016, which finally started production in August 2018. The Zacatecas site specializes in tubing used in the auto industry and employs 40 workers.

Wolfang Eder, CEO of Voestalpine AG, said that the company invested 15 million euros (US$17.5 million) in the construction of the Aguascalientes factory. The same factory in 2019 is slated for expansion with a planned estimate of another 15 million euros. The site will ultimately employ 80 assembly specialists.

Voestalpine presently operates 13 sites with 565 employees.
