Ternium Mexico, a subsidiary of Luxembourg-based Ternium, has stated that its new slab mill, for which the investment was announced in February, will be located in Pesquería. The mill will be built adjacent to the existing hot rolling mill which has an annual capacity of 4.4 million mt.

The company will invest $3.2 billion in the new electric arc furnace steel mill which will create more than 1,800 jobs.

The mill, which will have an annual capacity of 2.6 million mt, is aimed to supply the deficit of more than three million mt of slab for the company’s operations, as SteelOrbis previously reported.

The construction of the mill is expected to begin in December this year, while it is anticipated to commence operations in the first half of 2026.
