Italian plantmaker Danieli has announced that Mexican steelmaker Simec has started operations at its new state-of-the-art mini-mill located in the city of Apizaco, supplied by Danieli, and that the mill has started forming wire rod coils.

Danieli stated that the mill has an annual production capacity of 600,000 mt of big round blooms, bars and wire rod of special steel. The new mill will guarantee top quality products with a total cost of production that will make it absolutely competitive, not only in the North American context, but also worldwide.

According to Danieli, Simec and Danieli will continue to improve production and plant completion with a common target: reinforcing the plant’s leading position in Mexico, as a unique producer and processor of special quality bar steels, mainly dedicated to automotive application.
