Voestalpine discusses new steel mill with Ukraine

The Ukrainian Ministry of Industrial Policy has announced that on April 11 representatives of Austrian steel producer Voestalpine had a meeting with a working group headed by Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Industrial Policy Vladimir Severnuk on the subject of the possible construction of a new steel mill in the country.

According to Voestalpine's proposal, the new mill would be located on the Black Sea shore and would have an annual production capacity of five million metric tons of flat steel products. The total amount of the proposed investment is estimated at €5 billion.

In addition, the ministry has also announced that Voestalpine has had discussions with representatives of Odesagaz, Intfiks-Vodokanal and Odesaoblenergo, which confirmed the possibility of supplying the proposed mill with gas, water and electric power respectively.
