Venezuelan state-run steelmaker Sidor has inaugurated a second pellet line, government-owned TV channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV) said this week.
The inauguration of the second pellet line, which will have a capacity of 18,000/mt per day, at the plant took place after a one-year halt, VTV said. The government attributed the one-year halt in operations to difficulties to import materials to repair the equipment.
Venezuela faces a steep political and economic crisis, which caused a surge of inflation in the country. Sidor has not produced steel thus far in 2019. The Venezuelan government said it is focused on helping Sidor resume steel production.
