Several Venezuelan state-run companies, including iron ore producer CVG Ferrominera Orinoco (FMO) and steelmaker Sidor, faced demonstrations or plant shutdowns this week, according to several media reports.

A media report from El Universal said Sidor employees went on a protest this week to demand better pay, following a government labor reform which intends to “standardize” wages.

Another media report from NTN24 said this week several state-run companies have shut down operations for about three months, including Ferrominera.

A media report from Primicia said in early October a few state-run HBI companies, including Briqven, Briquetera del Orinoco and Refractarios de Venezuela have been experiencing demonstrations for 35 days. Workers are requesting benefits they reportedly lost due to the labor changes.
