Venezuelan state-owned iron ore producer CVG Ferrominera Orinoco (FMO) said this week its second pellet line is now 61 percent complete.

About 2,514 workers have been working in the project, which is expected to help the local iron ore producer to increase pellet supply in the domestic market. Ferrominera has a 25 million mt/year iron ore capacity, a 3.3 million mt/year pellet capacity, and a 1 million mt/year HBI capacity.

In March this year, works at the second pellet line was 53.09 percent complete. Ferrominera said in mid-June it was working to resume operations at its HBI plant. It said it replaced 22 catalyst tubes. The replaced equipment should last about five years.
