Vale resumes iron ore railroad transportation after incident

Brazilian miner Vale announced the restart of operations at its Carajas railroad (EFC), in the north of the country, after a fire in one of its compartments halted operations on November 8.

According to the company, the stoppage did not affect its iron ore production and shipments. The company mentioned that only the transportation of iron ore was resumed but did not inform about passenger transportation.

Linking the Carajás mines in the state of Pará to the Ponta da Madeira terminal, in the state of Maranhão, EFC has a transportation capacity of 120 million mt of iron ore and 300,000 passengers per year.
