Uzmetkombinat to increase steel production slightly in 2011

In the current year, Uzbek steelmaker Uzbekistan Metallurgical Plant (Uzmetkombinat), based in Bekabad in the Tashkent region, plans to increase crude steel production by 1.3 percent compared to 2010, to 726,000 mt.


In the current year, the company plans to increase rolled steel output by 0.9 percent compared to 2010, to 698,000 mt. Uzmetkombinat also plans to increase finished steel exports in 2011 by 7.2 percent compared to 2010, to 370,000 mt.
In 2010 Uzmetkombinat produced 717,400 mt of crude steel and 691,600 mt of rolled steel products, up 0.1 and 0.7 percent respectively compared to 2009.
