US steel exports down 1.4 percent in June

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, monthly steel exports in June 2023 decreased 1.4 percent from May to total 817,691 mt. A year-on-year comparison shows a 12.7 percent increase. In terms of value, US steel exports in June totaled $1.44 billion, compared to $1.49 billion in May and $1.41 million in June 2022.

Steel exports to Canada in June decreased 6.4 percent to 350,595 mt, and decreased 2.3 percent from June 2022. Exports to Mexico increased 4.9 percent month-on-month to 304,305 mt, which is up 33.8 percent from the same month a year ago.

Other top destinations for US steel exports in June include: Dominican Republic, with 4,706 mt; China, with 2,856 mt; Brazil, with 2,663 mt; India, with 2,367 mt; and UAE, with 2,242 mt.

Major steel products exported in June include HDG, at 127,669 mt; cut-length plates, at 107,279 mt; hot rolled sheets, at 96,315 mt; cold rolled sheets, at 67,517 mt; and beams, at 39,895 mt.
