US standard pipe imports up 30.6 percent in August

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 68,843 mt in August 2023, up 30.6 percent from July and up 15.5 percent from August 2022 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $86.3 million in August 2023, compared to $72.8 million in July and $94.6 million in August 2022.

The US imported the most standard pipe from Canada in August, with 11,272 mt, compared to 10,613 mt in July and 15,063 mt in August 2022. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in August include South Korea, with 9,743 mt; UAE, with 9,073 mt; Vietnam, with 7,160 mt; and Thailand, with 6,982 mt.
