US standard pipe imports up 25.9 percent in September

According to census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 64,233 mt in September 2018, up 25.9 percent from August but down 15.1 percent from September 2017 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $66.0 million in September 2018, compared to $54.3 million in the previous month and $70.4 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most standard pipe from Thailand in September, with 14,920 mt, compared to 1,567 mt in August and 5,116 mt in September 2017. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in September include Canada, with 10,305 mt; UAE, with 6,199 mt; Italy, with 5,508 mt; and Korea, with 4,765 mt.
