US standard pipe imports up 15.1 percent in May

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 58,449 mt in May 2019, up 15.1 percent from April but down 7.4 percent from May 2018 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $59.2 million in May 2019, compared to $51.4 million in the previous month and $65.6 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most standard pipe from Canada in May, with 11,797 mt, compared to 11,000 mt in April and 17,183 mt in May 2018. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in May include Vietnam, with 8,429 mt; Korea, with 7,198 mt; Oman, with 6,250 mt; and UAE, with 5,953 mt.
