US standard pipe imports rise 10.4 percent in October

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 122,952 mt in October 2017, up 10.4 percent from September and up 27.2 percent from October 2016 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $75.0 million in October 2017, compared to $70.4 million in the previous month and $57.7 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most standard pipe from Canada in October, with 15,097 mt, compared to 14,836 mt in September and 17,024 mt in October 2016. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in October include Thailand, with 13,496 mt; Korea, with 11,894 mt; Vietnam, with 6,290 mt; UAE, with 5,516 mt; and Mexico, with 5,042 mt.
