US rig counts drop by one, while Canada counts rise slightly

According to the most recent report by Baker Hughes, for the week ending September 30, the US rotary rig count decreased by one from the previous week to 1990. This reflects a year-on-year increase of 331 rigs.

Specifically, gas rig counts in the US rig counts increased 11 from last week (but still down 39 year-on-year), which was offset by an 11-unit decline in oil rig counts (while still up 373 year-on-year) and a one-rig decrease in miscellaneous rigs.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by five in the last week to 510, representing a year-on-year increase of 197 rigs.
