US rig count sees no weekly change as Canadian count continues to rise

Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending January 24, the US rig count did not change from 1,777, following 23-rig increase the previous week.  Additionally, the rig count is now up by 24 from 1,753 rigs during the same week a year ago.  The oil rig count increased by eight to 1,416, whereas the gas rig count decreased by nine to 356.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 25 in the week ending January 24 to reach 590, following a robust 88-rig increase the week before.  However, the Canadian rig count is still down 31 from 621 rigs during the same week a year ago.
