Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending March 9 the US rotary rig count increased by three to 984 rigs following a three-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by seven to 188 while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by four to 796. The overall rig count is now up by 216 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 29 to 273 rigs in the week ending March 9 following a four-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 42 rigs from the same week a year ago.
