US rig count edges up while Canadian count reverses trend

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending October 3 the US rig count decreased by nine to 1,922, following a neutral trend the week before. The gas rig count dropped by eight to 330, whereas the oil rig count decreased by one to 1,591. The overall rig count is still up by 166 from 1,756 rigs during the same week a year ago.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by one in the week ending October 3 to reach 430 following a 52-rig increase the previous week. The Canadian rig count is now up 69 from 361 rigs during the same week a year ago.
