Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending August 24, the US rotary rig count decreased by 13 to 1,044 rigs following a stable trend the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas declined by four to 182 while the number of rigs drilling for oil declined by nine to 860. The overall rig count is now up by 104 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 17 to 229 rigs in the week ending August 24, following a three-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 12 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
