US rig count dips again as Canadian count continues to decline

Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending May 9, the US rig count increased by one to 1,855, following a seven-rig decrease the week before.  The rig count is still up by 86 from 1,769 rigs during the same week a year ago.  The oil rig count increased by one to 1,528, whereas the gas rig count remained level for the second week in a row at 323.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 18 in the week ending May 9 to reach 145, following a five-rig decrease the previous week.  However, the Canadian rig count is still up 27 from 118 rigs during the same week a year ago.
