Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending October 5, the US rotary rig count decreased by two to 1,052 rigs following a one-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased remained stable at 189 while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by two to 861. The overall rig count is now up by 116 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by four to 182 rigs in the week ending October 5, following a 19-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 27 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
