US rig count declines week-on-week while Canadian count rises again

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending February 1, the US rotary rig count decreased by 14 to 1,045 rigs following a nine-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by one to 198, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by 15 to 847. The overall rig count is now up by 99 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 11 to 243 rigs in the week ending February 1, following a 23-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 99 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
