US rig count declines again while Canadian count surges

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending June 9, 2023, the US rotary rig count declined by one rig to 695.

The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by two to 135, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by one to 556. The overall US rig count is down by 38 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count surged up by 39 to 136 rigs in the week ending June 9. The Canadian rig count is down by five rigs compared to the same reporting period last year.
