US raw steel production up 1.2 percent week-on-week

According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending on October 27, 2018, US domestic raw steel production was 1,898,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 81.0 percent.

Production for the week ending October 27, 2018 is up 1.2 percent from the previous week ending October 20, 2018 when production was 1,875,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 80.0 percent.

Production was 1,705,000 net tons in the week ending October 27, 2017 while the capability utilization then was 73.2 percent. The current week production represents an 11.3 percent increase from the same period in the previous year.

Adjusted year-to-date production through October 27, 2018 was 77,974,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 77.7 percent. That is up 5.0 percent from the 74,247,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 74.3 percent.
