US OCTG imports drop 7.2 percent in October

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 287,865 mt in October 2017, down 7.2 percent from September and up 108.4 percent from October 2016 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $291.8 million in October 2017, compared to $318.4 million in the previous month and $119.0 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in October, with 82,659 mt, compared to 85,154 mt in September and 50,837 mt in October 2016. Other top sources of imported OCTG in October include Brazil, with 28,566 mt; Mexico, with 26,029 mt; Canada, with 22,154 mt; Taiwan, with 19,032 mt; and Argentina, with 18,642 mt.
