US OCTG imports down 47.7 percent in May

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 162,123 mt in May 2023, down 47.7 percent from April and down 14.1 percent from May 2022 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $339.4 million in May 2023, compared to $652.5 million in April and $321.4 million in May 2022.

The US imported the most OCTG from Canada in May, with 25,426 mt, compared to 24,113 mt in April and 14,456 mt in May 2022. Other top sources of imported OCTG in May include South Korea, with 21,614 mt; Thailand, with 12,458 mt; Turkey, with 12,174 mt; and Taiwan, with 11,766 mt.
