US OCTG imports down 34.4 percent in February

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 75,105 mt in February 2020, down 34.4 percent from January and down 57.0 percent from February 2019 levels. By value OCTG imports totaled $82.6 million in February 2020, compared to $133.4 million in the previous month and $190.4 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Mexico in February, with 15,339 mt, compared to 23,811 mt in January and 13,713 mt in February 2019. Other top sources of imported OCTG in February include Russia, with 12,231 mt; Thailand, with 11,718 mt; Canada, with 7,342 mt; and Korea, with 5,112 mt.
