US OCTG imports down 27.5 percent in September

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 97,989 mt in September 2023, down 27.5 percent from August and down 46.3 percent from September 2022 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $198.1 million in September 2023, compared to $269.8 million in August and $346.0 million in September 2022.

The US imported the most OCTG from South Korea in September, with 40,826 mt, compared to 39,687 mt in August and 44,542 in September 2022. Other top sources of imported OCTG in September include Canada, with 14,515 mt; Austria, with 10,710 mt; Mexico, with 10,186 mt; and Thailand, with 4,067 mt.
