US OCTG imports down 21.3 percent in September

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 132,479 mt in September 2019, down 21.3 percent from August and down 12.0 percent from September 2018 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $144.3 million in September 2019, compared to $178.5 million in the previous month and $172.1 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in September, with 21,653 mt, compared to 42,337 mt in August and 5,137 mt in September 2018. Other top sources of imported OCTG in September include Argentina, with 21,196 mt; Taiwan, with 14,942 mt; Mexico, with 10,711 mt; and Italy, with 10,327 mt.
