US line pipe imports up 17 percent in July

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 170,565 mt in July 2018, up 17.0 percent from June but down 17.1 percent from July 2017 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $181.5 million in July 2018, compared to $148.2 million in the previous month and $182.9 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most line pipe from Greece in July, with 47,531 mt, compared to zero tonnage in both June 2018 and July 2017. Other top sources of imported line pipe in July include Korea, with 32,090 mt; Mexico, with 16,417 mt; Canada, with 15,912 mt; Taiwan, with 11,564 mt; and Germany, with 10,553 mt.
