US line pipe imports down 7.9 percent in June

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 145,661 mt in June 2018, down 7.9 percent from May and down 17.1 percent from June 2017 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $148.2 million in June 2018, compared to $162.2 million in the previous month and $157.3 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most line pipe from Korea in June, with 67,734 mt, compared to 27,023 mt in May and 55,572 mt in June 2017. Other top sources of imported line pipe in June include Canada, with 13,808 mt; Taiwan, with 12,610 mt; Mexico, with 10,538 mt; Germany, with 6,363 mt; and India, with 6,101 mt.
