On November 1, 2006, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) instituted five-year reviews ("sunset") concerning the antidumping duties on imports of welded large diameter line pipe from Japan and Mexico.
The US ITC used the sunset reviews to determine whether the revocation of the orders would be likely to lead to a continuation or recurrence of material injury to US domestic industries.
As a result of these reviews, the ITC has determined that revocation of the existing antidumping duty orders on welded large diameter line pipe from Japan would be likely to lead to a continuation or recurrence of material injury to US domestic industries. On the other hand, the ITC has determined that revocation of the existing antidumping duty orders on the subject merchandise from Mexico would be unlikely to lead to a continuation or recurrence of material injury to US domestic industries.
As a result of the ITC's affirmative determination, the existing order on imports of welded large diameter line pipe from Japan will remain in place, while the existing orders on imports of the same product from Mexico will be revoked.
