The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has released its preliminary determination in the countervailing duty (CVD) investigation of line pipe from China.

The DOC has calculated the following preliminary subsidy margins:

Liaoning Northern Steel Pipe Co. Ltd -- 31.65 percent

Huludao Seven-Star Steel Pipe Group Co. Ltd.; Huludao Steel Pipe Industrial Co. Ltd.; and Huludao Bohai Oil Pipe Industrial Co. Ltd. -- 18.89 percent

All Other Chinese Producers and Exporters -- 25.27 percent

Once the preliminary determination is published in the Federal Register, US Customs and Border Protection will suspend liquidiation of entries of subject merchandise and require importers to deposit CVD duties or post bond. The DOC's preliminary determination is expected to be published some time next week.

The DOC is scheduled to announce its preliminary determination in the antidumping investigation for these products by October 31, 2008.
