On September 14, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) announced in the Federal Register the preliminary results of its sixteenth antidumping (AD) duty administrative review regarding corrosion-resistant carbon steel flat products from South Korea.

The administrative review covers August 1, 2008, through July 31, 2009.

The review covers eight manufacturers and/or exporters (collectively, the respondents) of the subject merchandise: LG Chem, Ltd; Haewon MSC Co Ltd; Dongbu Steel Co, Ltd; Hyundai HYSCO); Pohang Iron & Steel Co, Ltd and Pohang Coated Steel Co, Ltd (collectively, POSCO); Dongkuk Industries Co, Ltd; LG Hausys, Ltd; and Union Steel Manufacturing Co, Ltd.

The DOC preliminarily determined that Union Steel and Dongbu made sales of subject merchandise at less than normal value, determining AD margins of 2.27 percent and 3.89 percent respectively. It also found that HYSCO and POSCO have not made sales below normal value. The remaining average rate applicable to the remaining companies, namely LG Chem, Haewon, Hausys and Dongkuk has been determined as 3.08 percent.
