US CRC imports fall 12.3 percent in July

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 220,392 mt in July 2017, down 12.3 percent from June but up 21.3 percent from July 2016 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $163.2 million in July 2017, compared to $186.7 million in the previous month and $118.7 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most CRC from Russia in July, with 45,127 mt, compared to 32,899 mt in June and zero tonnage in July 2016. Other top sources of imported CRC in July include Turkey, with 44,549 mt; Canada, with 24,900 mt; Mexico, with 19,594 mt; Australia, with 17,752 mt; and Germany, with 9,959 mt.
