US and Canadian rigs counts move upward

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending September 5 the US rig count increased by 11 to 1,925, following an increase of 18 rigs the week before. The gas rig count increased by two to 340, whereas the oil rig count increased by nine to 1,584. The overall rig count is still up by 158 from 1,767 rigs during the same week a year ago.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by five in the week ending September 5 to reach 414 following a four-rig increase the previous week. The Canadian rig count is now up 25 from 389 rigs during the same week a year ago.
