Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending October 24 the US rig count increased by nine to 1,927, following a 12-rig decrease the week before. The gas rig count increased by four to 332, whereas the oil rig count increased by five to 1,595. The overall rig count is still up by 189 from 1,738 rigs during the same week a year ago.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by nine in the week ending October 24 to reach 426 following a three-rig decrease the previous week. The Canadian rig count is still up 22 from 404 rigs during the same week a year ago.
