US and Canadian rig counts see healthy week-on-week gains

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending November 18, the US rotary rig count increased by 20 to 588 following a one-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by one to 116, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by 19 to 471. The overall rig count is still down by 169 rigs, year-on-year.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by eight to 184 rigs in the week ending November 18, following a 22-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 18 rigs from the same week a year ago.
