Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending March 1, the US rotary rig count decreased by nine to 1,038 rigs following a four-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by one to 195, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by 10 to 843. The overall rig count is now up by 57 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by one to 211 rigs in the week ending March 1, following a 12-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 91 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
