US and Canadian rig counts log another week of gains

Baker Hughes reported Friday that for the week ending July 26, the US rig count increased by six to 1,776, following increases in the two prior weeks. The rig count was down 148 from 1,924 rigs during the same week a year ago. The oil rig count accounted for the full six-rig increase as the gas rig count was unchanged at 369. Oil rigs totaled 1,401 during the week.

Meanwhile, the rig count in Canada increased another five to 329 for the week ending July 26. Canada's rig count was down nine from 338 during the same week a year ago.
