US and Canadian rig counts continue weekly downtrend

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending October 27 the US rotary rig count decreased by four to 909 rigs following a 15-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by five to 172 while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by one to 737. The overall rig count is now up by 352 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 11 to 191 rigs in the week ending October 27, following a 10-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 38 rigs from the same week a year ago.
