Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending December 16, the
US rotary rig count increased by 13 to 637 following a 27-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by one to 126, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by 12 to 510. The overall rig count is now down by 72 rigs, year-on-year.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by four to 234 rigs in the week ending December 16, following a 30-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 72 rigs from the same week a year ago.
