US and Canadian rig counts continue to grow

Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending December 6, the US rig count increased by 12 to 1,775, following two-rig decrease the previous week.  However, the rig count is still down by 25 from 1,800 rigs during the same week a year ago.  The oil rig count increased by six to 1,397 whereas the gas rig count increased by eight to 375.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 17 in the week ending December 6 to reach 402, following a 17-rig increase the week before.  However, the Canadian rig count was down 4 from 406 rigs during the same week a year ago.
