US and Canada rig count decreases - week 16, 2026

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending on April 17, 2026, the US rotary rig count decreased by two rigs week on week to 543.

The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by two to 125, while number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by one to 410. The overall US rig count is down by 42 rigs in the year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by five to 130 rigs in the week ending April 17. The Canadian rig count decreased by four compared to the same reporting period in the previous year.
