According to the data released by metal trading enterprise Ukrainian Mining and Metallurgical Company (UGMK), in January-May of the current year Ukrainian exports of semi-finished steel products decreased by 0.1 percent year on year to 4.781 million mt.
In the January-May of this year, Ukraine exported 2.690 million mt of slabs - up 18.5 percent, while exports of square billets dropped by 18.6 percent to 2.044 million mt, both compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, exports of semi-finished steel products from Ukraine increased by 3.1 percent in May compared to April, rising to 1.066 million mt.
On the other hand, Ukrainian imports of semi-finished steel products increased by 15.8 percent year on year to 191,000 mt.
In May alone, imports of semi-finished steel products to Ukraine decreased by 17.3 percent compared to April, falling to 43,000 mt.
