Ukrainian seamless pipe import quota utilization

According to the information issued by the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy, up to April1, 2009, Russia and other countries utilized 87.23 percent of the annual quota imposed by Ukraine for seamless and OCTG pipe imports, supplying a total of 12,652 metric tons. The quota for the period starting from October 1, 2008, through September 30, 2009, stands at 14,504 mt of pipes, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy's order No. 552 dated October 13, 2008.

Accordingly, Russia utilized 100 percent of its quota, having received licenses to export 10,311 mt of pipes to Ukraine, Austria used 69.07 percent of its quota, i.e. 1,468 mt of an allowed 2,125 mt, Romania utilized 35 percent of its quota, i.e. 63.4 mt of the licensed 181 mt, Poland used 35 percent of its quota, i.e 334 mt of an allowed 955 mt, while other countries utilized 70 percent of their quota, i.e. 475.3 mt of pipes of a licensed 679 mt.
