Ukrainian producers ask US to revise AD duty on ferroalloy imports

Ukrainian ferroalloy producers have appealed to the US Department of Commerce to revise the 163 percent antidumping (AD) duty on imports of Ukrainian ferrosilicomanganese.

"Ukrainian producers operate in a free market and do not benefit from any preferential treatment by the state. Currently, there are more than three countries that supply ferrosilicomanganese to the Ukrainian market," the Association of Ukrainian Ferroalloy Producers (UkrFA) said.

The main reason that forced the Ukrainian ferroalloy producers to apply to the US government is the problem with sales in the domestic market. "The policy of the full opening of the Ukrainian domestic market for ferroalloys imports leads to the loss of the traditional market and forces domestic producers to look for consumers abroad," UkrFA noted.

As previously reported, the 163 percent AD duty was imposed by the US against imports of ferrosilicomanganese from Ukraine's Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant (NZF) and Zaporizhia Ferroalloy Plant (ZFP) in 1994, and is effective until September 2011.
